Plastering is where a build stops looking like a building site and starts looking like a house. We board, float and skim to a proper finish, and we take the preparation as seriously as the trowel work because that is what stops cracks appearing six months later.
What we cover
- Skimming over existing plaster
- Plasterboarding and dot-and-dab
- Floating and skimming to brick
- Ceilings, including overboarding artex
- Coving and reveals
- External render and re-render

Skim finish
Flat, straight and polished, with sharp arrises and clean junctions at ceilings and reveals. Walls get checked with a straight edge before anyone starts, because you cannot skim a bad float coat flat.
Difficult properties
Older houses rarely have a straight wall in them. On a recent bathroom in Stratford-upon-Avon there was not a single square corner in the house — the finish still came out flat, because that is what preparation is for.
External render
Sand and cement, monocouche or through-coloured systems, with beading, movement joints and correct curing. Rendering over damp or unsuitable substrate is a guaranteed callback, so we check what is underneath first.
